An Extra Life
The Outsider Saga: Vol. 1
Michael DuPont went to bed on Earth. He wakes up naked in a field with a device on his arm telling him he’s Level 0.
The stats are real. So are the people who think he’s trouble. And nobody can tell him how to get home to his sister.
In Nymora, runes grant abilities, but Michael has to earn the experience to use them. He’ll need work, a place to sleep, and friends willing to put up with a man whose best frame of reference is a video game.
Then he finds people he wants to stand beside. Getting home still matters. So does keeping them alive.
An Extra Life begins a fantasy LitRPG adventure about learning the hard way, finding your people, and making the most of a second chance you never asked for.
Status: In revision. Royal Road release planned; date to be announced.
What to Expect
Rune-based progression. New abilities are only the beginning. Learning how to use them takes practice, experimentation, and a few mistakes.
A team worth knowing. Friendships grow through shared meals, hard conversations, and the moments when someone needs help.
Humor under pressure. Michael brings his Earth references and questionable plans along for the ride. Nymora is under no obligation to cooperate.
Consequences that matter. Getting stronger doesn’t make every decision easier, or keep the people around him out of danger.
Where to Begin
An Extra Life is the first volume of The Outsider Saga and the place to begin Michael’s story. It is currently in revision ahead of a planned Royal Road release. A reading link and release details will appear here when they’re ready.
